HOW EFFECTIVE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS?

WHAT IS THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?

Interning in an organization first primarily provides students with a favorable and practical learning environment, allowing them to explore the real world. This type of experience also aids them in comprehending the realities of professional dedication by allowing them to experience both the positive and unpleasant aspects of the job (Adnan , 2017).

In today's business world, skilled people are needed to adapt to problems in an increasingly competitive environment. New ideas and new thinking will add advantages in facing the competition. To respond to the challenge, students are required to participate in an internship program or job experience before receiving a graduate degree to be prepared to compete in the corporate sector. Interns may provide companies with new talent and ideas to help them grow (Yani, 2019).

PURPOSE OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

1. Introducing students to a variety of activities as well as real-world scenarios.

2. Give students the opportunity to put what they've learned about theory into practice.

3. Improving student's talents and capabilities in applying theories taught in the classroom to a real-world situations (Yani, 2019).

HOW INTERNSHIP PROGRAM BOOSTS YOUR CAREER?

HOW DOES EACH PART BENEFIT FROM AN INTERNSHIP?

·         Develop hard skills and soft skills necessary for the desired industry

·         Build actual work experience to fill up an empty resume

·         Offers the opportunity to explore a career path without going all in

·         Gives a prime chance for networking with key players in the field (Eilers, 2020).

HOW THE COMPANY GETS BENEFIT FROM AN INTERNSHIP?

Companies can brainstorm with interns on how they see the company's products/services as 'outsiders, which is one of the benefits of internships. Furthermore, businesses can get or develop new concepts that have never been considered before. Because new interns arrive in a more 'fresh' state than employees who have been with the company for a long time, they still have a lot of ideas that may be spilled or even come up with new inventions for the company's operation.

The company's internship program can also help to improve the company's reputation indirectly. Because interns frequently share each other stories with their friends when they work in a company. If the internship program has a positive 'review,' it will contribute to the establishment of a positive public perception of the company. Find possible future employees through a no-obligation trial period. Temporary can increase productivity in the organization by having more workforce (Eilers, 2020).

CONCLUSION

The internship process creates more value-addition for both parties. A person who comes as an intern brings updated knowledge to the company while taking the experience of the practical application. With this approach, the company has an opportunity to uplift the standards and progressive development. The goodwill of the organization can be enhanced by providing opportunities to interns and obtaining support for short-term projects. For the needs of the vacancies by integrating with university internship programs, HRM can shorten the lead time and streamline the interview process in order to discover the best and most suitable individuals.

  1. Agreed.. A great internship provides the knowledge and skills required to become successful in a specific career field. Employers spend a great deal of time and money on training their new employees, and they know that they can eliminate a lot of this time by hiring someone with previous knowledge and experience.

  2. Internship is the work experience provided by organizations for a time period. It is the process of exchanging knowledge and work experience between the company and the intern. This helps the organizations to build a pool of potential candidates for future recruitments and the intern gains a live experience on working environments.

  3. An interesting and rare topic. Thanks for sharing.
According to the 2014 Internship & Co-op Survey conducted by NACE Research, companies extended full-time employment offers to almost 65 percent of their interns, with 80 percent of those interns accepting the offers. Participants in internship programs are also more likely to remain with the business after one year and five years, according to retention standards from the Human Resources Department (Marshall, 2021).

  4. Employers like internship programs because they provide a chance to bring in new viewpoints, provide a pipeline for prospective hiring, and provide mentorship opportunities for current employees. Building a strong internship program requires time and effort, but with today's workload and tomorrow's workforce, an internship program is an excellent method to help your firm succeed.

  5. Hi Pradeep, it's a nice article. internship program is a great help in solving the problems of the employees in the company. but I wish to bring here some disadvantages of an internship.
    • Most companies hire interns on the low-cost It won't pay much
    • Some employers or managers take advantage of interns and give them
mindless work that doesn't build new skills
    • The hours can vary
    thanks for sharing this.
