Recruitment with social media platform
According
to Rob Franklin et al (2009:114) the presence of the internet brings its own
impact on the business world and media institutions, including the world of
public relations. In addition, in the world of business and public relations,
it also has its own impact as a new communication channel in dealing with the
public.
Online
recruiting is all about qualified candidates and building relationships with
them. And social media is an online gathering place to express ideas and
interact with one another. Sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and several
others offer recruiters incredible opportunities to connect with candidates –
many of which would never have been discovered through traditional sources.
Employee
selection can also use platforms such as Zoom, Gmeet, MS. Team etc, the HR team
will select job applicants by conducting short interviews or pre-interviews by
telephone or via teleconference (Nurhayat, W., 2020).

The way of recruiting using social media
a. Take
a soft approach and promote your culture. Social media recruiting goes beyond
posting open roles from company accounts. You should also share content that
shows your company is a great place to work so you can organically attract
candidates. People love talking about companies with unique cultures so this
type of content often gets a lot of shares.
b. Involve every employee.
You likely have some social media power users in your workplace. Encourage your
entire staff to share openings and, in general, be an evangelist for your brand
on social media. Some companies have strict social media rules but allowing
your employees to talk about their work experiences in a responsible manner can
pique the curiosity of a potential candidate.
c. Help your recruiters grow a social media presence.
Corporate accounts can only accomplish so much. Individual recruiters can make
person-to-person connections with candidates but should first know social media
best practices and use their accounts on a regular basis.
The benefits of social media recruitments
a. See talent and passion firsthand.
Many people use social media to make it known they love their careers. You can
find passionate people and learn what amazing work they’ve done and creative
ideas they have.
b. Get resumes details without a resume.
On LinkedIn, and to some extent Facebook, you can view a person’s complete work
and education history. You’ll know if a candidate has the experience the role
calls for before you reach out to them.
c. Showcasing company’s culture.
Social media allows to learn what a person’s hobbies are and even conclude what
sort of personality they have. We can find candidates who are skilled and will
also be a good fit for our workplace.
d. Saving money. Unless you promote
job openings through paid campaigns, social media recruiting are completely free.
Conclusion
Recruitment has
undergone major changes in the digital age we live in. The way companies hire
has evolved over the years, mainly because of the technological advances the
world has witnessed. These advances have motivated companies to change the way
they communicate and employes, as the internet has become a huge platform where
information and news are updated every second. Therefore, social recruiting is
an easy strategy to implement and there are many benefits in using it. The
following are examples of social media platforms that millennials often use to
find work:

Thank you for sharing Pradeep, timely article.
ReplyDeleteWith the current pandemic situation, no doubt that social media recruiting plays a major role in acquiring talents for companies due to travel restrictions and health guidelines, and also benefit companies in terms of cost and time. However, there are some concerns also around security threats, biased and fake profiles, not much effective for skilled uneducated labors who are not active in social medias. However, overall the trend is moving towards more social platforms with numbers of internet using increasing everyday.
With this pandemic situation the E recruitment has become the key of HR. Most of the HR processes are automated and using social media to complete typical HR tasks. The SM platforms like linked-in has grew up recently and possitive impact can be seen on HR sector.
ReplyDeleteNicely written Pradeep. Today, 70% of the workforce are passive candidates. Though they may be open to new opportunities, they aren’t actively looking which means traditional recruiting methods will be virtually useless. Social media recruiting allows organisations to get their roles in front of millions of candidates that they would never reach otherwise. Thankyou for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery timely important topic.. when the world is facing a pandemic situation like COVID-19 everything has became digitalized, and the online recruiting is all about finding quality candidates and making connections with them. And social media is where people hang out online to express ideas and interact with each other.
ReplyDeleteEven though this method was not popular earlier due to the current prevailing situation online recruitment is widely used by organisations today. It is convenient and flexible. Since there are no geographical limits provide more chances on recruiting the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pradeep for sharing, from a recruitment perspective, social media are similarly used as part of a corporate communication strategy to encourage employer brand image (Sivertsen et al., 2013) and studies show that a favorable brand image completely affects recruitment outcome.
ReplyDeleteSome organizations, I believe, are employing this platform as a recruitment strategy in light of the current prevailing situation. Even in our country, there are a large number of social media users, which is a trend that organizations should improve on in the future as part of their recruitment strategy.
ReplyDeleteHi Pradeep I see this trend in banking sector recruitments . specially in to middle managements and mostly sales staff. This is a great way to recruit people for higher employee turnover job functions like Marketing
ReplyDeleteHi Pradeep. Sometimes, social media allows recruiters to spread information about job openings and the organization so that passive and active candidates receive such messages. Traditional recruiting methods, such as online job boards or advertisements, most often engage only active candidates who are looking for that information. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat topic to discuss Pradeep.
ReplyDeleteSocial recruitment is enables organizations to reach passive candidates, gather more details , select most suitable candidates, showcase your organizational culture, save money and time. Also it can reach millions of skilled candidates in a few seconds.
More than five social media accounts are used by the average internet user. Recruiters can contact candidates through social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and a few more. Some businesses utilize social media to recruit employees, but not all of them are effective. You have clearly explained the advantages of social media recruiting and how to connect with brilliant people online in this post.
ReplyDeleteExellent topic to discuss with current trends. Well drafted with proper findings. Recruiters can use social media to inform both direct and indirect prospects about vacancies and the company. Traditional recruiting techniques, such as online job boards or classified ads, typically target only active prospects who are actively seeking information.
ReplyDeleteThank You For sharing Pradeep, all the best.
